Jaiphal (Latinname - Myristica fragrans), also known as Nutmeg, is an evergreen native tree of Indonesia. It is widely grown in tropical regions like China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, Caribbean Islands, Sri Lanka, India and South America. The fruit of Jatiphala is known for its fragrance and aroma. Jatiphala is bitter, pungent in taste which is dry, strong and penetrative with hot potency. It is known to balance kapha and vata doshas.
