Sphutikarika is a famous Ayurvedic medicine derived from purified and processed alum. It is a very useful medicine which is considered to be extracted from Saurastra clay. It is mainly used in the powdered or paste form.


Usage of Sphutikarika

  • Sphutikarika can be used with Aloe Vera juice mixed with basil leaves. It is also used for gargling processes which are done with a mix of pure honey. Affected areas should be thoroughly washed with the diluted medicinal paste.

  • It is used to treat several diseases. The list includes haemorrhoids, freckles, ringworms, and scabies and so on. It helps to stop severe bleeding as well.

  • It is very effective when used to treat infections. It is useful during a long list of infections which include conjunctivitis, tonsillitis, stomatitis, and more.

  • It is also used to cure many diseases related to the anus and uterus as well.



Ayurvedic Properties of Sphutikarikaa

It is extracted from special clay found as a crystal in nature. It acts as an astringent ad is acidic to taste. It can be diluted with Tulsi juice or apple juice as well. When applying it as a paste, one can use it with pure coconut oil for a speedy recovery. It is also used to maintain healthy conditions of one’s eyes.


Precautions with Sphutikarikaa

Though Sphutikarika or purified alum has no known side effects; it is advised to be used under strict medical advice only.


  • Over-dosage of medicine can have fatal consequences.

  • Doctors advise avoiding this medicine when women are lactating or are pregnant.

  • Should be out of reach and sight of children.

  • Self-medication is entirely prohibited by Ayurvedic medicinal experts.

  • Should be avoided by patients suffering from hyperkalemia.
