- Aniseed: This helps in dealing with flatulence; its volatile oils help restrain gas formation. Crush 2 seeds and take it as a herbal tea before a meal. It also reduces bloating.
- Cardamom: The peppery essential oils form the main component of cardamom and help dispel bloating and formation of more digestive enzymes to regulate proper digestion. You can ground the cardamom seeds into a powder mix and take it as a herbal syrup by adding some honey and warm water to it.
- Cinnamon: This acts as a mild painkiller during diarrhoea. Its warming action helps soothe and ease the painful cramps caused during diarrhoea. When taken with a mixture of sugar and salt solution about thrice a day, it also helps recover the dehydration caused by diarrhoea.
- Fennel: Fennel seeds help deal with constipation. Its soothing action creates gentle mucus that helps facilitate proper bowel movement through your colon. Ground 1 tsp of fennel seeds and add it to half a cup of warmed cider vinegar. Trap the volatile oils using a saucer and drain the seeds after it has cooled. Take thrice daily. - Triphala: Triphala, literally translating to ‘three fruits’, is a herbal potion made by a combination of the fruits of the Amalaki, Haritaki and Bibhataki trees. It is highly effective in reducing bloating, abdominal pain, cramping, and producing a laxative effect for proper stool impaction.
