How to Cure Piles?
Piles in most cases are not a serious problem and resolve after a few days on their own. A person suffering from piles may experience painful, hard lump in the anal region. Having the feeling that bowels are full even after defecating is another symptom of piles. The anal region becomes red sore and itchy. Piles can be divided into four grades on the basis of its severity.
In Grade 1 type of piles, the inflammation is restricted to the inner lining of the anus and is not visible externally while in Grade IV type of piles the haemorrhoids remain externally and cannot be pushed back. Grade IV type is a severe condition and the allopathic doctor suggests surgery for it.
Grade 1 type of piles is a mild version and the doctor suggests certain changes in the lifestyle of the patient to cure it. One of the causative factors of piles is constipation. The problem of constipation can be solved with the incorporation of a lot of vegetables, fruits, fibre-enriched food and bran-based cereals. Along with a proper diet, exercise helps to cure piles. Moreover, weight loss helps to lower the severity and incidence of piles. Another effective method for piles treatment is Ayurveda.
What are the Causes of Piles?
Ayurveda states that ‘Apana Vata’ brings about the defecation process and any impairment of Apana Vata results in piles formation. The possible causes of piles are as follows:
- Poor Lifestyle: It can occur due to unhealthy food habits like consuming a lot of processed food as well as due to a sedentary lifestyle. This causes ‘Agnimandya,’ which results in constipation and stool formation.
- Chronic Diarrhoea and Constipation: Constipation causes straining during defecation and pushes haemorrhoids against sphincter muscles bringing about prolapsed hemorrhoids.
- Pregnancy: Some women suffer from piles during pregnancy and the situation worsens due to constipation. The problem of constipation aggravates in some women due to an array of mechanical and hormonal factors.
- Obesity: Overweight also results in the formation of piles. Physical activity strengthens and tones the colon walls and the abdominal muscles and prevents the risk of haemorrhoid prolapse. Thus aerobic exercises are good for preventing the development of piles.
The other causes of piles are heredity, aging, injury, sitting for prolonged periods of time and even suppressing the urge to defecate.
